Scientific illustration is a means of communicating science in a visual sense. It is the ability to process information by eliminating unnecessary objects or redundancy and highlighting specific items or processes that encourage learning. It is an art form of clarity and accuracy.
While using a myriad of different scientific illustration techniques, I often utilize a mixed media approach to achieve certain details in my pieces. My main mediums used are watercolor, pen & ink, graphite and carbon dust, while I also enjoy working with colored pencil, pastel, and gouache.
